Maranding, in the NW of Mindanao Island, in the southern Philippines, will be the Feast site for members from northern and mid-northern parts of the island. The city is modern and progressive, and yet the Feast site is located in a quiet area, adjacent to picturesque rice fields.
The Maranding Feast Hall is very well presented, open, airy and spacious. It has recently been refurbished to make it a very comfortable area for services and activities. We plan to introduce air-conditioning for the hall this year to add to the comfort of all. Everyone who has ever been to this area for the Feast is most impressed. The Festival Show is always sensational, and the trip to one of the area's spacious swimming pools during the Feast for the afternoon is well received. Sermons are in the local dialect mixed with English.
The brethren are very friendly and love to see new faces at their Feast site. The amazing entertainment and foods that they provide will live long in your memory. It is a beautiful part of the Philippines to visit, and friendships will be formed that will last for eternity.
Prices of accommodations are very affordable, particularly in pension and lodging houses within the community. Air-conditioned rooms cost from P 800 to 1,200 (US $16-24), & non air-con rooms from P 100 to 150 (US $2-3) per person, per day. There are also nice and new, fully air-conditioned rooms available in local motels with their own shower, and bathroom facilities, at very reasonable costs. The Maranding church-owned building is just 10 minutes on foot from most lodgings, and various forms of transport are also available.
Maranding can be reached by plane through Air Philippines and Philippine Air Lines coming from Manila direct to Ozamis City, a 1 ½ hour flight. To get to the Maranding Feast site from Ozamis airport, take a ferry boat ride crossing the Mukas which takes 30 minutes, and then from Mukas take a bus to Maranding, a one hour trip, for P 25.00 (US 50c) only.
Overseas visitors are welcome, but it is advisable to check the travel advisories prior to coming. Our area pastor Mr Gideon Benitez should be contacted prior to making travel arrangements. Our Philippine brethren, or overseas Filipinos, are quite able to safely visit this site.
