Stilbaai, South Africa

The venue for the 2016 Feast of Tabernacles for the Western Cape, South Africa will be Stilbaai.

Also known as the Bay of Sleeping Beauty, Stilbaai is a town along the southern coast of South Africa about four hours by car from Cape Town. The nearest international airport is Cape Town with local flights to both Cape Town and George (about one and a half hours from Stilbaai).

This beautiful seaside resort is well-known for its peaceful atmosphere. The warm Indian Ocean washes onto miles of unspoilt white beaches on either side of the Goukou River, providing ideal conditions for watersports of every conceivable kind.

Stilbaai is host to a number of interesting archaeological sites, including ancient fish traps thought to have been built by early ancestors of the Khoi people of the Southern Cape, and a shell landfill that has been carbon dated to around 1000 BC. Another archaeological site is situated in a group of caves at Blombos cave about 12 kilometers from Stilbaai. Artifacts found at Blombos have been carbon dated to around 77,000 BC, making it the oldest known human settlement today.

Inverroche distillery is located just outside Stilbaai, where a unique and fascinating experience is offered to visitors. Several gin tastings and distillery tours are held daily and visitors are introduced to three elegant fynbos gins made according to traditional recipes. The classic flavours of citrus, spices and juniper berry are present but top and undertones of fynbos add to and complement the character of the spirit.

Stilbaai offers a variety of accommodation ranging from self-catering, hotels to B&BS.

Sabbath Services will be held on October 15, 2016 in the Stilbaai Community Hall starting at 13h30. This will also be the same venue for the Feast of Tabernacle services.
